Backstage Books is founded by two Mancunian deviant pop culture conquerors, hailing from the acid house movement, and they’re here with a new revolution. They’re everywhere… in the past giving you the how it went down, they’re at your party right now, or they’re the ones throwing it—are you on the list? Notorious fashion and rave promoter Anthony Donnelly and inestimable chronicler of music memories Simon Spence are bringing out the origin stories of the underground UK sound, art and clothing that have gone global. Backstage Books are true life stories printed in pocket paperbacks and primed for film adaptation, and now international literary arts agency The Rights Factory (named with a nod to the iconic Factory Records) has partnered with them to license rights in every format.
“Backstage Books are the quintessential, intrepid 21st century rock n roll publisher, turning the narrative of iconic history into manifestos for this moment. They’re bringing back something that we haven’t seen in underground art since the punk, new wave, and house revolutions—a new epic age of UK influence, clear to move bodies to the beat. I’m crazy about and proud to be a part of this manic endeavour.” -Nat Kimber, The Rights Factory

“Founder of a couple of brands in my time , I have always been interested in writing and the media, from standing outside newsagents waiting to read the newspaper at 5am - pre internet - to taking the world stage with marketing exclusives on the World Wide Web. Experienced in publishing, ready to do this bigger and better! God help us all the lunatics have finally built there own asylum." Anthony Donnelly, Gio Goi
